[size=1.15em]GPS module preparation
While the tests are ongoing here are the instructions on how to prepare your uBlox Neo 6M GPS/compass combo module for usage with the adapter:- Ensure your GPS unit is actually uBlox NEO-6M
- Locate 4 pins (see the closeup on the left) in the corner opposite to the black dot on the GPS label
- First from the right is GND pin (black on the picture)
- 2nd and 3rd from the right are BOOTUP CONFIG pins (green on the picture)
- 4th from the right is the POWER CONFIG pin (red on the picture)
- Ensure that the GND pin is actually connected to the ground (usually the black wire getting into the module labelled GND)
- Ensure that NONE of the two BOOTUP CONFIG pins are connected to POWER CONFIG pin
- Ensure that NONE of the two BOOTUP CONFIG pins are connected to module's POWER or BACKUP BATTERY pin (2nd and 3rd pin from the left, orange on the picture)
Once that is done you need to solder both the BOOTUP CONFIG pins and the GND pin together (see the closeup on the right). This sets the default bootup configuration (same as the original Naza module has).
Make sure you DON'T make a connection to the POWER CONFIG pin (otherwise your module will be operating in a low power/performance mode).
Note that since the GND pin is connected to the whole ground plane of the module it will dissipate heat very quickly so soldering it may need a bit more heating. Be careful though to not heat the whole module up too much for too long.
That's it, this is all you need to do to prepare your GPS/compass combo to be used with the adapter.
